THE CRUCIBLE RESEARCH GROUP DIRECTIONS:
Each group is responsible for creating a wiki page with additions supporting your topic. Wiki Pages will be organized by Fonts, Font Sizes, and Bullets - it is up to each group to create its own page.
Each page must contain facts from various sources (all sources must be documented, of course). In addition, your wiki pages should include AT LEAST 3 of the following:
1) Web pages
2) News Articles
3) Blog Posts
4) Pictures
5) Videos
6) Podcasts and Radio Programs
For each new link, put a small summary of the content along with a small analysis on how it works with your topic. CITE WEBSITES & INFORMATION!
On Monday 3/15 & Tuesday 3/16, you will conduct group research on background information for Arthur Miller’s play The Crucible. The information you find
should be posted to the correct links below. If you have Topic # 1, The McCarthy Era, you will click on the link labeled “The McCarthy Era AS” (the AS stands for American Studies).
Your group will be responsible for informing the class about ONE of the following topics (to be assigned in class):
1. The McCarthy Era
2. Arthur Miller & his relationship to the “Red Scare”
3. Puritan beliefs
4. The Salem Witch Trials
5. The Real John Proctor
6. Arthur Miller’s Influence on American Theater
Group presentations will be Wednesday 3/17. You don’t need to turn anything in to
me, since I (along with the rest of your class) will be able to access it on our Wikispaces page. Each group will present the information to the class clearly and accurately while projecting your page. Your presentations will be evaluated not by me, but by your classmates (I will hand out evaluation sheets and then tally up the scores).
Since part of your job is to keep the attention of your sometimes less-than-eager peers, aim to present the information in a creative and fun (yet still information-packed) way. You can create a “commercial,” for example, or come up with some sort of a skit to begin your presentation. The presentations should be 5-10 minutes long, and provide an overview of the topic (it’s not necessary to give every single fact you can find).
Use your class time wisely and productively—anything you don’t finish by Tuesday becomes your homework (remember that you can access the Wikispace from home, as well). Be ready to present first thing on Wednesday, 3/17.
Your classmates will evaluate you based on the following:
On a scale of 1 to 5 (1=needs improvement; 5=the best) rate the group on how well it was able to accomplish each goal. (CIRCLE ONE for each).
